'Cross' takes the listener on a journey to crossroads and through trials of a life in the search for meaning. Members of the world-famous band Lemonbucket Orkestra play gypsy violin, accordion, and trombone against the backdrop of a foot-stomping Louisiana dirge-like rhythm that carries the listener through the tale of 'Cross' to its conclusion.

There's a cross made of barbed wire, by the side of the road. 

a nest in the willow, made by the crows 

does the rain bring the wind or does the wind bring the rain 

we may never know,
you're a thousand miles 
from where you need to go
Scarecrow bones and pay phones 
there's one there that's a myth 

There’s no one left to call, so you blow the wind a kiss
Factories turn to wheat fields, as gray fades into gold,
time moves slow 

when you're a thousand miles from where you need to go
There's a big sky ahead, as the sun tears a hole 
in the clouds of forgiveness
 that you know as your soul 

gasoline and coffee both take a toll 
when you're a thousand miles, from where you need to go
Passing clothing lines, billboard signs and little country towns 

the sun is a mistress who loves to go down 

motels and jail cells, you've seen your share of both 

still a thousand miles 
from where you need to go
The road goes on forever when you’re driving (driving, driving)

driving just to be running 
away from all you know
